Martin Taylor Guitar Academy

Finger style solo guitar playing crosses many styles of music and is taught here through Video Exchange Learning with Martin Taylor who has been teaching and performing for 35 years. No particular skill level or experience is required and you can play acoustic or arch top guitar or electric guitar. Unlike other video-based sites, MTGA offers much more than one-sided learning. Each player gets access to the extensive video lesson library covering topics from "Getting Better Sound" to "Developing Your Own Style" and "Improving Your Musicality". Online learners can send Martin a video of themselves practicing, which is personally reviewed, then paired with a Video Response containing Martin’s individualized instruction for the student to work on. Both videos are posted for the entire community as “Video Exchanges”.
(For the easily intimidated: while video posting is rewarding for players at all levels, it’s not a requirement.) The learning experience is supported by the ability to socialize both with the teacher and fellow players. Forums and online chat are complemented by each student's Profile Page where many guitar conversations happen between players of all skill levels. The community can learn together in a self-paced fashion and in one central place.

About Martin Taylor
Dr. Martin Taylor MBE embodies that elusive, yet authentic connection to the music of a bygone era. Born into the auspices of the great Django Reinhardt, Taylor’s life and his music have been influenced by musical legends of the first order. The warmth of his textured, layered playing is, at once, tastefully measured yet masterfully virtuosic.
